Chamber Building for Sale
2006-06-05 by Charlotte Keim
As noted in February, the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors made a decision to begin the process of putting the buidlng up for sale. We want to bring our chamber members up to date with the chamber building and the board’s decision to pursue alternates to remaining in the Third Street property. Appraisals were obtained and a request for proposal was sent to our member real estate firms. After board members’ careful review of the submitted proposals, Lydia Donnelly of Cranston Real Estate were selected to list the chamber building for sale. For information about the listing, please contact Lydia at 740-373-2078.
As we told chamber members on February 23, 2006, “The Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has unanimously agreed that it is in the best long-term interests of the Chamber and its members to explore alternatives to remaining in our present building at 316 Third Street. After much thought and deliberation, it was determined that we would seek appraisals of the building and begin the process of placing the property on the market.
The Chamber does not have the resources for maintaining an historic home nor does it fit into our mission of supporting and encouraging business growth and development in this area. We have informed the City of Marietta of our intentions. We do not have any plans for a future site for the chamber at this time as this is a preliminary step in what might be a very long process.”
Please do not hesitate to contact Charlotte Keim, Chamber President, at 740-373-5176 or Bob Ferguson, Chairman of the Chamber Board, at 740-373-7423 if you have any questions about this action.
