The Mid-Ohio Valley Safety Council and the Ohio Bureau of Workers ‘Compensation Division of Safety and Hygiene, in ceremonies at the 22nd Annual Safety Awards Banquet, honored 77 firms for their safety achievements. Mr. Howard Mavity, Attorney with Fisher & Phillips, LLP in Atlanta, GA was the featured speaker. Susan Burkhart, President of the Mid-Ohio Valley Safety Council, and Carol Morrison, Manager of Business Development of the Division of Safety & Hygiene of the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation presented the awards to those firms who held the highest safety records during 2009 within the Mid-Ohio Valley Safety Council.

Thirteen special awards were presented to companies that worked more than 500,000 man hours without a lost-time incident. In total over 13 million hours were worked by these firms with Thermo Fisher Scientific logging nearly 3 million hours without incident. The other special award winners are: Americas Styrenics LLC, Davis Pickering & Company Inc., Degussa Engineered Carbons, Eramet Marietta, Globe Metallurgical, Inc., Kemron Environmental Services, KRATON Polymers U.S. LLC, Pioneer Pipe, Solvay Advanced Polymers, Thermo Fisher Scientific, United Construction Co. Inc., WASCO and Washington State Community College.
