Encourage Historic Preservation with Incentives
2007-04-25 by Charlotte Keim
City Council is considering enacting an historic preservation ordinance. Rather than imposing additional regulations on business owners, property developers and home, consider preserving historic architecture by providing incentives, which could be tax abatements, low-interest loans or grants. This would encourage preservation rather then simply impose additional rules. This would send a message of welcome and we want you to live and work here.

Job Opportunities Available
2006-09-06 by Charlotte Keim
There are jobs in the Mid-Ohio Valley. We need to encourage students (and parents) to explore alternatives to a four-year colege diploma. We need to encourage students to consider learning a trade. It is also important to note that these trades are available to both men and women. For example, with technological advances, certain welding jobs are done via computers operated by women in white lab coats. The image of dirty factories is being replaced with sophisticated modern facilities.

2006-08-25 by Charlotte Keim

What does a Chamber of Commerce do?
2006-08-25 by Charlotte Keim
Each day brings a new set of challenges to the chamber staff. When the phone rings or the door swings open, we're never sure what the question will be. It could be an entreprenuer seeking guidance on starting a business. It could be a tourist who needs a county map. It could be a company representative who is looking for demographic information to decide if this is the place for a new company office. It could be a chamber member coming for a networking meeting. We build connections and provide opportunities.
